Sisal is a species of Agave, native to southern Mexico but widely cultivated and naturalized in many other countries. It yields a stiff fiber used in making various products. Sisal fibers are cut from the plant with a machete. The sisal fibers are then either left in their raw state or dyed with natural, eco-friendly colors depending on the design.
